Ashok Chakra: History Learning Game

At school level, generally many History Teachers make it about dates and not about people and events. If we cut out the myths History would be more interesting. History is not about dates or memorizing when an event happened but about the political, economic, religious and social ramifications of events in history. It truly boils down to how the information is relayed to the students. If it is presented in a boring way then the students will find it boring. sounds elementary but it is very true, isn’t it?. Thus with the goal of making History learning interesting, i designed a circular timeline based game.

From the designed tool, I tried to inculcate historical thinking by providing a context and then try to improvise asoka’s timeline which is a timeline as well as game. This will enable students to not only look into asoka’s life but to actually experience it while playing the game. I also attempted to inculcate various important keypoints in the life of asoka in the game. This game framework can be applied to any object or a personality which has a history or story assocated with it.
