Every story has an origin, some from a place of happiness and others from a place of sadness. Raju’s unfortunately comes from a place of sadness. The generic nature of his name alone shows how disinterested their parents were of Raju’s existence. Add to this his father’s love affair with the bottle and we have all the recipes of disaster.
His mother was a nice lady, pretty, which didn’t help as his father always suspected her of sleeping around with the entire neighborhood. A bottle of warm acid would have solved this for him but he was too much of a coward to do that, besides Raju’s father’s favourite pastime was slapping Raju’s mother around till he was tired or bored. You don’t puncture an inflatable doll that gives you pleasure, you want it to be intact forever.
Firki is Raju’s story.
