Pankh: Marathi text input system for non-literate Users

As society gets informationalised, digital devices reach them before basic amenities like water, roads, or school education. India has 22.4% illiterates right now. There is serious need to use the power to digital technologies to help people become literate. We can overcome this problem by designing a tool to help people express themselves or read what others have to say to each other or to communicate.

“There are worse crimes than burning books. One of them is not reading them.”
Joseph Brodsky

In India, there are around 28 Crore out of 125 Crore people, who are illiterate, or haven’t been to a school in their lifetime. This challenging project caters to that by providing a tool to also check whether learning to reading & typing on a smart phone is faster than learning to reading & writing.
