DESIGN DEGREE SHOW 2016

The Industrial Design Centre (IDC) at IIT Bombay is organising Design & Degree Show 2016 at VMCC, IIT Campus from June 19th to 21st.

Design & Degree Show 2016 includes a two day Design Conference on June 19th and 20th, where 16 eminent designers from a wide range of specialisations ranging from User interface and Human Computer Interaction, Communication Design, Industrial Design, Animation to Mobility and Vehicle design will be sharing their vision, experiences and case studies. This event will also showcase design projects by the outgoing batch of Master of Design (MDes) students of five streams at the The Industrial Design Centre, IIT Bombay.
The event will be attended by Design professionals, Academicians, Design students from various institutes, Experts in various fields related to design, writers, artists, media professionals and general public interested in design.

INDUSTRIAL DESIGN CENTRE

INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

The Industrial design programme concentrates on developing skills, knowledge and attitude among students to become creative problem solvers who can effectively and strategically use different design processes and methods. The students learn to correlate technical and ergonomic functions of a product with the real human needs.

COMMUNICATION DESIGN

The Visual Communication programme envisages developing graduates with better maturity in handling communication design problems, a deeper understanding of aesthetic aspects, and generating methods and processes for solving communication problems. The course is at an advance level to create visual communication designer with greater analytical and problem solving capabilities.

INTERACTION DESIGN

The Interaction Design program in IDC strives to create people with expertise who will eventually emerge as leaders to influence the future of interaction design. It creates graduates with good analytical abilities, skilled with specific techniques, creative in their solutions, sensitive in their approach and knowledgeable about current developments in using new emerging technologies and exploring new medias.

ANIMATION DESIGN

The Animation program in IDC strives to create people with expertise who will eventually emerge as leaders to influence the future of Animation. IDC expects the students to assume direct responsibility for nearly all aspects of the film making process – from concept to drawing, shooting, camera etc.

MOBILITY AND VEHICLE DESIGN

The Mobility and Vehicle Design programme envisages developing graduates with skill and knowledge, which will make them competent designers for the auto industry in India. Studies include the understanding and identification of the transportation and mobility issue facing the country along with developments in other countries and finding creative solutions. The course covers a broad spectrum from personal to mass transportation. Lectures are supported by hands on exercises and projects.

B.DES

IDC provides a conducive environment for research, academics and collaborative projects. Supported by excellent research facilities, technical expertise and academic diversity of IIT Bombay, IDC has been involved with various initiatives in all areas of design. From the year 2015 onwards , IDC will offer a four year, eight semester Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programme.
