The small and delicate veins of children, coupled with their tendency to move or fidget, often make it difficult for healthcare professionals to establish a stable and secure IV insertion site. Additionally, the use of heavy dressings and compromised mobility further compounds the problem, leading to accidental dislodgement and discomfort. Recognizing the pressing need for a comprehensive solution, I decided to design a Pediatric Securedevice – an extraordinary device that combines the functionalities of an IV splint and IV catheter into a single, groundbreaking product. By seamlessly integrating these two essential components, the Pediatric SecureSplint equips healthcare professionals with an innovative tool to stabilize and secure IV insertion sites while providing young patients with unparalleled comfort and freedom of movement. This demonstration product has been specifically designed to educate and raise awareness among adolescent girls in rural India about menstrual health and hygiene. Rural adolescent girls often feel hesitant, reluctant, and neglectful when it comes to accessing information related to menstruation. Menstruation is a natural and beautiful part of every girl's life, and it is crucial to empower young girls with knowledge and resources to navigate this journey with confidence and dignity. Through interactive tangible design approach, design aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the menstruation process, introduce different menstrual absorbents available, and emphasize the importance of proper hygiene practices. Additionally, design includes valuable information about menstrual health and overall well-being, highlighting the significance of emotional and physical care during this time.
