Designing hands free interactions in Indian household kitchens

Designing hands free interactions in Indian household kitchens

Prof. ABC

Cooking plays an important and essential role in our lives. As a result, they often rely on online recipes or call their parents for guidance. This project focuses on understanding the problems faced currently in Indian household kitchens and designing a hands free interactive solution for the same. As per the results from primary research three areas were identified which were recipe assistance, assistance on multitasking and skill support where hands-free interaction techniques can help adults. The final design encompasses a system that utilizes voice-based and visual assistance through a dedicated mobile app installed on the user's device. Additionally, it incorporates an LED light system to provide visual feedback as required. The system operates differently in various scenarios, adapting to meet the specific needs of each user.

A Qualitative Study To Compare Learning Through Read-Write VS Read-Type For Adult Illiterates

A Qualitative Study To Compare Learning Through Read-Write VS Read-Type For Adult Illiterates

This paper presents a study that is part of a larger study aimed at evaluating the efficiency of learning through reading and typing versus learning through reading and writing. The study was conducted for a period of 5 weeks, during which participants were randomly divided into two groups: one group practised read-write skills while the second group practised read-type skills. Pre-test and post-test assessments were conducted to track the progress of participants, along with daily qualitative observations. Through this study, we found a few interesting findings. In the case of the typing group, people found it difficult to differentiate between similar-looking words like म and भ,य and प, and घ andध. At times similar sounding letters like स and श also led to confusion. Some of the participants recognised the letterform with the word associated with it. For instance, if they want to pronounce अ they will say अननस. Based on these findings, we have also suggested design implications and further avenues for research in this paper.
