‘Embakkam’ means Burp in Malayalam language. This project is a visual exploration of how sounds can be converted into exaggerated images to metaphorically relate to something in a fun way. ‘Embakkam’ follows a kid in a Malayali household, where all the members of the family sit down to have dinner. Once the dinner is over, everybody burps in a peculiar way that their sound resembles an animal or a vehicle. What the kid sees, follows the visual narrative of the project.

Churul Chronicles is a graphic novel about a girl’s hair and it’s journey of self-acceptance. Before curly hair became trendy/ pretty enough for the mainstream, all the curly heads dreaded their hair. Stories of their ridicule, unsolicited advice on Hair straightening, hacks and tricks that failed terribly to have society-approved ‘beautiful’ hair, came together to weave a story about two individuals: A girl and her Hair, where the Hair transforms from society-approved ‘beautiful’ hair to unruly wild curly hair when she hits puberty, and their journey to make peace with the new change.
