Hand Gestured Text Input Method for Malayalam Language

Hand Gestured Text Input Method for Malayalam Language

Prof. Anirudh Joshi

The project aims to explore a new text input method for the Malayalam language using hand gestures. We've developed a system where specific hand movements correspond to different characters, which are displayed on the palms of both hands through gestures. We created a prototype that utilizes image processing to accurately track hand movements and distinguish between gestures. To evaluate its effectiveness, we conducted an accelerated longitudinal usability test to measure the maximum typing speed achievable with the prototype. Additionally, an open loop study was conducted to determine the maximum speed attainable with this design. In the closed loop testing, a top average speed of 45 CPM was achieved, while in the open loop testing, an average speed of 62 CPM was attained.

Exploration of AR interaction in the context of molecular structure

Exploration of AR interaction in the context of molecular structure

Prof. Jayesh Pillai

This project focuses on creating a mobile augmented reality application that facilitates the understanding of molecular structure and hybridization. Students often encounter difficulties grasping the intricacies of molecular structure, especially when additional concepts are involved. However, by providing a medium that allows them to visualize the molecule's structure, the learning process can become significantly easier. The primary goal of this project is to develop an educational tool that enables students to comprehend molecular structure and hybridization more conveniently and effectively.
