Solar Solution for Rural India

The project started in collaboration with SoUL IIT Bombay. The aim of the project is to provide a solar solution kit to each household in the rural sector in India.

The research started with studying existing products in the market followed by the domestic activities practiced everyday by the villagers so as to provide the kit according to the needs.

Ideations started with the aim of making the system wired and interconnected with a level of modularity in lighting system. The system is designed using maximum usage of wire cable to connect the devices together hence reduce the cost of individual battery system. This system allows the batteries to be placed at one place, i.e, in charge controller which controls the charge input and output from the battery.

The final concept is a kit containing, solar panel, charge controller, fan, lamps, radio and flash light. Fan is designed to provide air throw in volume where it is needed reducing the wastage of thrown air. Fan unit is an assembly of 4 DC fans arranged in a fashion that dc fans can be individually directed towards multiple users. lamps are designed to be connected to wired system as well as portable lighting. Hence modularity allows the devices to to used in multiple ways possible for assistance in domestic activities in rural sectors.
