Taking a Line for a Walk: Communicating Through Lines

The project borrows its title from the famous Swiss-German Artist Paul Klee’s line, “A line is a dot that went for a walk”. The project attempts to explore my involvement with images and the relevance of making images in contemporary times.

These images revolve around humans and the significance of happiness in one’s life. I think nowadays people have become more individualist than ever, we all face ups and downs in our daily lives yet eagerly wish to keep ourselves busy and cause ourselves more stress. This behaviour leads us to isolate ourselves from the society and we quickly forget the joy in living a life and be able to feel a connection with another human being. This isolation not only makes us disturbed but also brings down the level of happiness of a society collectively.

The little free time a human being gets in his/her life, s/he spends most of it interacting with images—reading newspapers, watching television, browsing on social media or travelling outside, etc. All of these are filled with heart-breaking images of death and destruction happening throughout the world causing more stress in our lives. I believe we need to start making images of the other kind—the kind that encourages curiosity, spreads love and happiness. These works are like puzzles—they reveal as one takes interest and I believe someday they would lead one to a happier path.
