A solar powered butter churner
As awareness of solar energy has been on the rise there has been an emerging need of solar powered  appliances. Since Selco has been providing solar power solutions in rural India from a very long time, they wanted to intervene in other appliances market as well so that the need of the people in the socio economic sector can be fulfilled. Hence there was a need of a versatile multipurpose butter churning device which can be frugal and can be used with any kind of utensil irrespective of its shape and size. The main motivation of making the product was to provide a one stop solution to all blending, churning and chopping problems in the rural areas at low cost. The main target users of this device were housewives as well as the small scale dairy industries.
User Study : The main target group where housewives, who needed butter churner to make butter from milk. Since Selco had been providing solar power in these areas hence a solar powered butter churner was needed
Ideation: The ideations were based on the user feedback, expert advice and observations from the previous interventions,hence a more versatile and multipurpose agitator was need which can provide multiple uses with ability to work with any shape of container.
The concept was based on the idea of being versatile and minimal,so that any shape or size of vessel can be fitted with it. The concept consisted of a dc motor on the top and a cover plate at the bottom which grips the neck of vessels and provide cover from spillage, the rubber gripper reduced the vibrations to minimum.
