Design of a Monolinear Devanagari Font

India is a multilingual country and regional languages are deeply personal. We think in them, we dream in them, we laugh in them, these are the languages of our resentment, anger and tears. It can not be expressed in Latin script.

Aim of this project is to design a matching Devanagari font for ‘Univers’ for bilingual communication at IDC, IIT Bombay. This is an attempt to bring visual uniformity in diversity of scripts. It is very important in bilingual or multilingual communication to establish a harmony among the scripts. There are few Devanagari and other Indic fonts are available with multiple weights. In this project Multiple weights are designed for various typographic need. This project is an attempt to bridge the gap between text and display typefaces. So the different  typographic needs can be met with only one font family.
