Residential Garbage Collecting Cart

For tackling solid waste generated from households and for hygienic waste management for cities and citizens of India, court has formulated various policies The first rule says, the best way to keep the streets clean is not to dirty them in the first place. In India, to achieve this, a door to door collection of solid to liquid waste is advocated. The collection of waste would be done using multi-container handcarts or tricycles to avoid manual handling of wastes. IIT Bombay campus is a place comprising students, teaching and non teaching staff. There are about 1200 residential houses which produce a large amount of waste. The Public Health Office is responsible for taking care of the system of garbage collection on campus. 12 women are responsible for collecting garbage from these residential houses. Our project focuses on this area. We went about doing field study and then identifying the problems associated with residential garbage collection.
