“ Karlo Duniya Mutthi main” for reliance mobile is one of the most successful campaign in India.The man behind this Mr. Kaushik Roy has spent over three decades in the sphere of media and communication. He started his career with Hindustan Thompson Associates (JWT), Kolkata, in the Creative Department and later moved on to Account Management. Kaushik has held the positions of General Manager – South, Clarion Advertising (now Bates); Executive Director and Chief Creative Officer – Mudra Communications; Head – Corporate Brand Strategy, South Asia, Philips He is currently President – Brand Strategy & Marketing Communication, and Advisor to the Chairman of Reliance Industries Limited.

He is the Adviser to the Chairman Reliance Industries Limited. He believes that in modern day global trade, building the country as a brand is the most important thing. This is also the vision that got his company to reach global heights. Kaushik Roy, president, brand strategy and marketing communication, Reliance Industries has been elected president of the India chapter of the International Advertising Association for the year 2010-11.

In his first term as president, Mr Roy had launched India's first Green Award, Olive Crown, for creative excellence in communicating sustainability.

In 2007 he wrote and directed the movie “Apna Asmaan”, which is a simple and touching tale that communicates the personal pains and feelings of an autistic child’s parents.

Anil K Gupta
He is currently a professor in the Centre for Management in Agriculture. His unique work analysing indigenous knowledge of farmers and pastoralists and building bridges to science based knowledge has led to the honour of being elected at a young age to India’s National Academy of Agricultural Sciences and recognition through Pew Conservation Scholar Award 1993 96 from University of Michigan.

His desire to develop a platform to recognise, respect and reward local innovators was the stimulus behind the creation of the Honey Bee network.

To help provide support structures for grass roots innovators and link formal and informal knowledge systems, SRISTI, a global initiative and an NGO, to network local innovators was established in 1993. It provides organisational support to the Honey Bee network in over 70 countries. it mobilized more than 124,000 ideas, traditional knowledge practices and innovations from informal sector by march 2009.

Dr. Anil Gupta helped to establish NIF (National Innovation Foundation, India) (February 2000) with a view to help India become an innovative and creative society and a global leader in sustainable technologies by scouting and sustaining grassroots innovations.

National Project Director for a GEF (Global Environment Facility) and UNDP supported PDF B project on Conservation of Biodiversity in Dry Lands; Set up GIAN (Grassroots Innovation Augmentation Network) Society and Trust (1997) to scale up grassroots innovations and convert these into viable products or services with appropriate benefit sharing arrangements.

Through SRISTI, GIAN and NIF, Dr. Anil Gupta is opening opportunities for barefoot inventors with a Mission to demonstrate the potential of knowledge rich economically poor people in taking developing societies out of the morass of mediocrity and lead these on to a path of sustainable progress.

Honours
Padma Shri National Award given by the Hon’ble President of India on the eve of Republic Day 26 January 2004 for distinguished achievements in the field of management education, one of the highest civilian awards.

Recipient of Bharat Asmita Acharya Shrestha National Award 2006 in recognition as the Best Management Teacher.

Adjudged as one of the Star Personalities of Asia among the fifty leaders at the forefront of change by Business Week, New York.- Business Week, Asian Edition, July 2, 2001, Received Asian Innovation Award Gold from Far Eastern Economic Review (Oct 26, 2000) for coordinating SRISTI and Honey Bee Network.

Shyam Benegal has made a mark in the Indian cinema with his four feature films Ankur (1973), Nishant (1975),Manthan (1976) and Bhumika (1977) he created a new genre of cinema in India. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 1976 and the Padma Bhushan in 1991.

In 2007, Benegal was awarded the highest award in Indian cinema for lifetime achievement, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for the year 2005. He has won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi seven times.

Suresh has led a team as the Creative Director at Famous House of Animation for almost a decade that has created animation films in 2D, 3D and pioneered Clay/Stop motion in advertising films. His innovative exploration with the medium has proved instrumental in creating a market for animated ad films in India. He has won over a 100 national and international awards for his achievement of innovative storytelling, one of the most popular and appraised being the “The Web is what you make of it” campaign for Google Chrome.

Pankaj Jhunja
Pankaj Jhunja is a graduate from Industrial Design Centre, IIT Bombay. He has had industry experience in product design, Industrial Design and Automotive Industry. Pankaj has had the opportunity to work in a diversity of businesses each with different responsibilities and complexities of products. Performing various roles as a Designer, Design Manager, Project Manager and more he has been associated with companies like Milton, Dilip Chhabria Design, Renault, Homeflow Limited and now Tata Motors. Mr. Pankaj Jhunja's association with Design has seen him mature from designing simple, low technology products to highly complex products like the Automobile.

Pankaj Jhunja holds a Bachelor’s degree from the National Institute of Technology, Silchar, and a Master’s degree in Design from IIT Mumbai.

Geetika came to Future Factory with a rich blend of experiences. Holding a degree in engineering and an MBA, she had worked the first six years of her career in consumer marketing for Unilever and J&J, and then the next six years in setting up a design research practice in Mumbai. Her extensive experience in both the business and design faculty, helps provide a valuable perspective in the design strategy & research projects she leads at Future Factory. Her work in this area helps businesses succeed by creating new opportunities through innovative thinking and shaping the design of future products. Geetika has a strong interest in social issues as well, and has been committed to working with street children and women entrepreneurs.

Popularly known as the Clothing Man, Anshu has done his Mass communications twice and masters in Economics. Starting as a freelance journalist, Anshu left a corporate job in 1998 and founded GOONJ with a mission to make clothing a matter of concern and to bring it among the list of subjects for the development sector. An Ashoka Fellow and the Global Ambassador of Ashoka, Anshu is creating a mass movement for recycling and reuse of tones of waste material by channelising it from the cities to the villages, as a resource for rural development. A powerful and inspiring speaker, Anshu addresses many national and international forums to bring clothing on the development agenda and to motivate the youth to take action. He is a regular speaker in many parts of the world on innovation, leadership, village development, power of youths and social entrepreneurship.

Listed in ‘Forbes’ as one of the India’s most powerful entrepreneurs, Anshu’s organization, GOONJ has won many prestigious awards including the Innovation for India award, Lien i3 challenge, CNN-IBN Real Hero’s Award, India NGO of the Year Award, Changemakers Innovation Awards and Development Market Place Award from the World Bank. She is a full time professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Design at Politecnico di Milano, she teaches Virtual Prototyping at the School of Design and at the School of Industrial Engineering. She is coordinator of the Virtual Prototyping Lab. She is presently chairing the ASME-CIE Virtual Environment and Systems committee and co-chairing the DesignSociety SIG on Emotional Engineering.

Case Study on: User Experience and Emotions

Abstract: In an era of globalization and strong competitiveness of products,companies must deal with how to improve their products, not only from a functional point of view, but especially from an experiential and emotional perspective. User experience refers to the effectiveness, usability and satisfaction that products provide to users. Emotions are elicited during the interaction with the product. It is strategic to find proper methods to design products that cause a positive experience and elicit positive emotions. Emotional Engineering is a recently developed discipline researching on methods to design systems and products which appeal to emotion and sensibility by translating human sensibility and multi-sensory effects, including images, sounds, haptic/tactile effects and smells, into physical design factors.

As is rightly said by the great philosopher Euripides, learning is more effective when it is an active rather than a passive process.

Collaborative design is a fun-filled activity based event scheduled to take place on the last day of DDS 2013. The intent of the event is to bring the young, new minds of the student participants and the experienced thought process of professionals together to innovate. The event aims at bringing professionals, students and academicians in teams. The teams will collaboratively pour in ideas to provide new and exciting solutions for a design exercise and later present or exhibit their ideas for the audience.
